Looking to lose weight? Change out this 5 bad habits!

Ah yes, it's that time of the year again where you and I are stocked up on resolutions to lose weight. However, losing weight isn't as easy as it seems as many dieters and fitness junkies make it seem out to be. 

Though it's hard, we are here to make it just a little simpler! By making small changes to your daily habits, you could be on your way to your ideal weight.

1) Get enough snooze
Sleeping has many benefits. In a stressful society like Singapore, more often than not we aren't catching enough sleep which is ideally 8 hours ago. A lack of sleep affects weight loss heavily as you will feel hungrier due to the lack of energy in your body. If you are worried that the weight loss will come from your muscles instead, we are happy to report that it's mainly targetted at your fats!  

2) Say bye bye to Sugar
The Sugar industry would have you believe that fat is the enemy but, that couldn't be further from the truth! In various diets such as the Keto diet, fat is actually your best friend. Well, moderately of course. Cutting your sugar from your diet will help significantly with your weight loss journey. Think twice before consuming that cake!

3) Maybe we should go with a smaller plate?
Wait, changing to a smaller plate helps me lose weight!? Calm down and listen to us. By using a smaller plate, our brain is tricked into believing that we are actually consuming more than we are. A full small plate makes it look like we are consuming bigger food portions when in reality, we are consuming lesser. We will still feel the same satisfaction of consuming bigger portions.

4) Chew slow
Our body takes awhile before in recognizes that it is actually fully. Which is why various studies actually suggest for you to drink sufficient water and chew slowly while eating in order for your brain to process when it is actually full. More often than not we are actually overeating in most of our meals!

5) Drink. More. Water.
Ok, you are probably tired of hearing this but, it's a fact that drinking water helps a lot with weight loss. For one, it actually increases your metabolism rate. And more often than not when you feel hungry, it's actually fake hunger. Down a cup of water and wait for a while and you should feel the hunger pangs go away. If not, the hunger is real. 

80% of the human body is made up of water. Hence, water retention is another reason why you are facing weight loss issues. By drinking plenty of water, your body will remember to release the excess water that it hasn't already.
